To commemorate Neurodiversity Week, ACCA takes the lead in a global event discussing the significance of neurodivergent talent within the accountancy sector for its future success.

Findings from a comprehensive survey conducted within the accountancy profession indicate a need for employers to use a more balanced approach to diversity. Approximately 41% of all respondents and 46% of Gen S respondents expressed apprehensions about their organisations’ focus being skewed towards certain diversity aspects over others. This observation gains prominence as the business landscape gradually recognises the importance of other dimensions of diversity, such as neurodiversity, in the workplace.

ACCA hosted a worldwide webinar on 21 March, featuring insights from industry-leading experts on the crucial topic of neurodiversity in accountancy and its significance for the contemporary profession.

Drawing insights from ACCA’s Global Talent Trends 2024 report, derived from the largest annual global survey of work and talent practices across the accountancy profession with nearly 10,000 respondents, it becomes evident that practices fostering equality, diversity, and inclusivity (EDI) are integral components of the employee value proposition.

Jamie Lyon, ACCA’s Head of Skills, Sectors, and Technology, emphasises the imperative for organisations to tap into a diverse pool of talent to remain competitive and innovative. He stresses the importance of elevating the focus on neurodiversity, recognising the distinct skills and capabilities that neurodivergent talent contributes to organisational success. ACCA commits to spearheading this essential agenda across the accountancy profession in the upcoming months.
